These are the most commonly used sections of steel for large structures.

I-Beams

These steel beams are also known as H-beams or universal beams. They provide vertical support and strength in the center. These beams can be used as standalone or combined to create continuous beams that are then embedded in concrete. I-beams are required for support on nearly every major structure. This makes them the most commonly used material in large-scale construction projects.

Angled beam

These steel beams are often used in construction because they are shaped like an "L". Although the lengths of segments may vary, angles beams are straight.

U-beams

Similar to I beams, U-beams have two parallel flanges that extend from the one end of the support vertical. These flanges are used to brace the structure. The plans will specify the size of U-beams.

Flat bars

These steel sections are simple and versatile, so they can be used in a variety of construction projects. They are most commonly used to connect sections and can be bent into any shape.
